Privacy Policy

HDFoundry built the Radiara app ("the app") as a free application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the app. Radiara does not require an account: you can browse and listen without signing in. Signing in is optional and is described under Optional account and sync below.

Data stored on your device

The app keeps the following on your device:

• Favorite radio stations
• Recently played stations and play history
• App settings such as theme, language, equalizer, and sleep timer
• Listening patterns used for personalized "For You" recommendations
• Recordings you choose to create, saved as audio files on your device

Recordings never leave your device. See Audio streaming and recordings. The other items stay on your device too unless you sign in, in which case they are synced so your account works across devices.

Optional account and sync

You can use Radiara without an account. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the basic profile that provider returns (an account identifier, and your email address and display name where the provider supplies them) and store it so we can recognise you on your next device.

Signing in also turns on sync: your favorites, recently played stations, and app preferences are stored on our servers so they follow you across devices. Without an account they stay on your device.

You can request deletion of your account and its synced data at any time from Settings → Delete account in the app. You may optionally tell us why; that note is used only to improve the app. See Deleting your data.

Information our servers receive

When the app talks to our backend — to load the station catalog, sync an account, deliver a notification, or submit a report — our servers receive ordinary technical information: your IP address, the device platform and operating system, the app version, and which request was made and whether it succeeded. We use this to keep the service working, diagnose failures, block abuse, and apply rate limits. It is kept for a limited period and is not used to build a profile of you or sold to anyone.

If you report a station problem or ask us to delete your account, any note you type is sent to us along with an anonymous device identifier so we can follow up on the issue.

Stations you add yourself

Radiara lets you add your own station by entering a name and a stream address. Because the point is to grow the catalog for everyone, what you enter is sent to us, reviewed by a person, and may be published in the public station catalog that all users browse. Please do not enter anything you would not want to be public.

Your account is never shown as the author of a published station, and if several people submit the same stream we merge them into a single entry rather than keeping one per person. A station you add stays in your own library whether or not it is ever published.

Analytics and crash reporting (Firebase)

We use Google Firebase services to understand how the app is used, fix crashes, and improve the experience. None of these are linked to your real-world identity.

• Firebase Analytics: anonymized usage events (screens visited, feature interactions, session duration), device information (model, OS version, screen size), language and country settings derived from the device (not GPS), and an advertising ID if available (you can reset or opt out via device settings).
• Firebase Crashlytics: crash stack traces, non-fatal error reports, performance metrics, device model, OS version, and an installation identifier. Used solely to diagnose and fix bugs.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging: a per-device push notification token used to deliver notifications you opt in to. The token contains no personal information and is not shared with third parties.
• Firebase In-App Messaging: delivers in-app messages such as onboarding tips and feature announcements, using an installation identifier to target campaigns. No personal data is collected.

All Firebase data is collected in aggregate and is not used to personally identify you. See Firebase Privacy Information and Google's Privacy Policy.

IP-based location

To display nearby radio stations, the app performs a one-time IP geolocation lookup using third-party services (ipinfo.io, with api.country.is as a fallback). This determines your approximate country only, not your exact address or GPS coordinates. The detected country is cached locally on your device and is not shared with us.

Third-party services

• Radio Browser (radio-browser.info): a community-maintained, open-source directory whose open station data helps build and keep Radiara's catalog current. We query its free public API to fetch and refresh station metadata (names, logos, genres, countries, and stream URLs). The API requires no authentication and we send no personal information with these requests: only the search or browse parameters needed to retrieve stations. Your use of Radiara is governed by our Terms and this policy, not by Radio Browser, with which we are not affiliated.
• Google Firebase: Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, and In-App Messaging. See Firebase Privacy.
• ipinfo.io and api.country.is: IP geolocation for the "Local Stations" feature.

Audio streaming and recordings

When you play a station, your device connects directly to the station's streaming server. We do not proxy, intercept, or monitor these audio streams on our servers; the station operator's own privacy policy applies to that connection.

If you use the app's optional recording feature, the recording is created and stored entirely on your own device for your personal, time-shifted listening. Recordings are never uploaded to, transmitted to, or accessible by us or any third party, and the app provides no way to share or export them. You can delete a recording at any time from within the app. Your use of recordings is subject to our Terms of Use.

Data sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We do not share data with third parties except as described under Third-party services above (analytics and services necessary for app functionality).

Deleting your data

Local data: uninstalling the app, or using Settings → Reset All, clears everything stored on your device, recordings included.

Account data: if you signed in, open Settings → Delete account in the app to request deletion of your account and the favorites, recents and preferences synced with it. You can also email [email protected] from the address you signed in with. Requests are actioned within 30 days. Deleting your account does not withdraw a station you submitted that has already been published in the public catalog, because it is no longer tied to you — ask us and we will remove the entry itself.

Data retention and your rights

Locally stored data (favorites, history, settings) remains on your device until you uninstall the app or clear its data. You can clear all app data at any time via the "Reset All" option in Settings. You can limit ad tracking and reset your advertising ID through device settings, disable push notifications in your device's notification settings, and override or disable the detected country in app settings. Firebase Analytics data is retained according to Google's data retention policies.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect data, including HTTPS for API communications and encrypted local storage where supported by the platform. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with an updated date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
