Terms of Service

By downloading or using ArchFic, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app. ArchFic is built and operated by HDFoundry.

Disclaimer

ArchFic is an independent, fan-made application. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Archive of Our Own (AO3) or the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW). All trademarks belong to their respective owners.

AO3 content

All fanfiction content displayed in ArchFic is sourced from Archive of Our Own (ao3.org). ArchFic works like a browser: it loads AO3 pages directly to your device and does not store, host, or redistribute fanworks, and it never charges for access to AO3 content. When you connect your AO3 account, you sign in on AO3's own website: ArchFic does not receive or store your AO3 password. You must comply with AO3's Terms of Service when accessing content through this app, including:

  • Respecting content ratings and author-set restrictions
  • Not automating bulk downloads or scraping at scale
  • Respecting author requests regarding their works

Acceptable use

You may use ArchFic only for personal, non-commercial reading. You may not:

  • Systematically download or redistribute AO3 content
  • Circumvent security measures beyond what is needed for normal reading
  • Reverse-engineer, modify, or redistribute the app
  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose

Accounts and your data

ArchFic works without an account. Signing in is optional and lets your library and collections, follows, reading progress and activity, saved searches, private notes, kudos, and settings sync across your devices. We store this data to provide the service, never AO3 fanwork content, and we do not sell your data. You can request deletion of your account and its data from Settings, then the account section, then Delete account, or by contacting us. The request stays pending for 7 days and you can cancel it in the app at any time during that period. If you keep using the app during those 7 days, the request is cancelled automatically and your account is kept. If the account stays inactive, the request is approved automatically after 7 days (the ArchFic team may also review and approve or reject it earlier) and the account and its server-side data are deleted permanently. Data stored only on your device stays there until you remove it or uninstall the app. For details, see our Privacy Policy.

ArchFic Premium subscriptions

ArchFic Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription available on yearly or monthly plans. A free trial may be offered with the yearly plan where shown at purchase. The applicable price and trial terms are displayed by the store before you subscribe. Apple or Google bills and manages your subscription through the account used to subscribe. Unless you cancel, the subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period. To avoid renewal, cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can restore eligible purchases through the app or store. Refunds are handled under the applicable store's refund policy. Premium features may change over time.

Ads

The free tier displays ads from third-party advertising partners. Premium removes ads. Advertising consent choices and available privacy controls are described in our Privacy Policy.

Age requirement

You must be of legal age in your jurisdiction to access content rated Mature or Explicit. By enabling adult content in Settings, you confirm you meet this requirement.

No warranty

ArchFic is provided as is without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantees about uptime, data accuracy, or continued compatibility with AO3. AO3 may change its structure at any time, which may temporarily break app functionality.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HDFoundry and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in a court of competent jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms at any time. The latest version is always available in the app under Settings, then Terms of Service and on this page. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
